It's Almost Time to Dig into Reading!
Frequently Asked Questions about the Summer Reading Program
How do I get involved with Summer Reading?
You can register for the Summer Reading Club online, or you can visit your local Baltimore County Public Library at any time during the program - from June 17 to August 10, 2013.
How much does Summer Reading cost?
Nothing ... it's absolutely free! But you can help support Summer Reading by buying a really cool t-shirt. They come in all sizes for the whole family, and you can collect a different one every year! The design for 2013 is above.
What will I be doing?
You can read magazines, newspapers, books from a school reading list, or any book that you like! The main thing is ... READ!
If someone can't read yet, can they still participate?
Absolutely! You’re never too young to join in the fun! Good listening counts for children who have not yet learned to read, and there are fun activities too. The Read-to-Me Summer Reading Club is for young children, ages birth to 5 years old.
Am I too old for Summer Reading?
No! There's a teen program just for middle school students. And if you have some summer reading assignments from school, you can read books from that reading list as part of the library's Summer Reading Club! If you are in high school, or even older, you can participate online in BCPL's Goodreads Group and win prizes.
The Summer Reading Program is a nationwide cooperative library project.
