Birth to Five: Focus on the First Years: Story Timers

About Story Timers

Story Timers is Baltimore County Public Library's Early Literacy Volunteer Program and supports the needs of children, caregivers, parents, and the library's community by providing story times appropriately researched and modeled. Dfferent types of story times are offered, and include Baby Boosters story times geared to children birth through 23 months and preschool story times for children two to five years old. The greatest need for volunteers is for the Baby Boosters programs.

STORY TIMERS volunteers mainly serve in branches of Baltimore County Public Library but may offer offsite outreach programs. They are the branch's extension to the community. At times they serve as the first contact that children and their families will have with the Baltimore County Public Library.

This Early Literacy Volunteer Program thoroughly trains and mentors STORY TIMERS volunteers on how to provide developmentally appropriate stories and activities for young children.
