How to Report Elder Abuse

To report suspected abuse of seniors or vulnerable adults living in a residential home or in an assisted living facility call Baltimore County Department of Social Services, Adult Protective Services at 410-853-3000, after making a language selection, press 2 for Adult Protective Services.

To report suspected abuse in a nursing home, call Baltimore Department of Aging, Long Term Care Ombudsman Program at 410-887-4200.

Baltimore County Department of Aging
Supports the 60+ age citizens of Baltimore County, helping them to remain healthy, active, safe and independent members of the community. Welcomes requests to provide, coordinate and advocate for seniors to ensure the highest quality of life for both active and health-impaired seniors, their families and caregivers. Baltimore County Department of Health
Provides state and federally mandated assessments of functionally disabled adults who are at risk of institutionalization. Assessments are conducted where the at risk adult currently resides. Develops individualized plans, assists the adult in obtaining necessary services and when needed, follows up with case management. There is no cost for this service. Baltimore County Police Department
Responds to 911 calls for elder abuse, neglect, self-neglect and exploitation with a uniformed patrol officer. If applicable, investigation and criminal charges will follow. The Police Department works with Adult Protective Services to provide assistance to vulnerable adults, defined as persons aged 18 and over who lack the physical or mental capacity to provide for their daily needs.

Maryland Adult Protective Services
Serves persons aged 18 or over who lack the physical or mental capacity to provide for their daily needs. Serves to prevent or remedy abuse, neglect, or exploitation of adults who are unable to protect their own interests. Pro Bono Counseling Project
Provides free and reduced-cost referrals with licensed mental health professionals for uninsured and under-insured families, couples and individuals of any age. Private practice therapists volunteer their time to assure that all those who live or work in Maryland have access to mental health care. Seniors who are grieving, have lost interest in daily activities, have family problems, or have been financially exploited and would like to discuss this with a professional, please contact 410-825-1001.
